Obituaries For Monday, October 4

Mr. Chris Palmer, age 59 of Cookeville and a former resident of Florida, passed away Saturday, October 2, 2021, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. No services have been announced at this time. Mr. Palmer was born May 24, 1962, in Brooklyn, NY, to Beatrice Butler Palmer and the late Leo Palmer. His family moved to Orlando, FL when he was age four. Following graduation from high school, Chris enlisted in the U.S. Army and served as a medic. After his military service, he began training as a firefighter. He served as a firefighter in Lake County, FL for 20 years and was trained in high angled rescues, Cert and in Hazmat. His career as a fireman was cut short due to a back injury but he remained passionate about fire service and the brotherhood with his colleagues throughout his life. Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Martha Jane Moores Palmer; sons, Joshua Jasperson and wife, Nicole, and James Jasperson, all of Apopka, FL.

Funeral services for Mr. Jerry Lee Wilder, age 75 of Sparta, will be held Tuesday, October 5, at 1:00 PM, at Oak Lawn Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Memorial Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Veteran’s Honor Guard. Mr. Wilder passed away on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born August 28, 1946, in Franklin County, NC. He was the son of the late James and Teresa Perry Wilder. He served in the United States Army. Survivors include his wife, Linda Wilder of Sparta; three sons, Jimmy Patat (Jennifer) of Baxter, Kevin Patat of Bluffton, IN,  and Duwayne Patat of Sparta; one daughter, Cathy Patat of Sparta. The family will welcome friends on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until time of the service at the funeral home.

Funeral services for Mrs. Wilma F. Crowder, age 76 of Lafayette and formerly of the Whitleyville community of Jackson County, will be held Tuesday, October 5, at 2 PM, from the chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Celina, with burial to follow in the Union Hill Cemetery in Clay County. Mrs. Crowder passed away Friday, October 1, 2021, at her home. She was born in Whitleyville on Saturday, April 7, 1945, to the late Charles Marlin and Bertha (Crawford) Smith. Wilma was a member of the Waltons Chapel Church of Christ. She loved working in her flowers, reading, quilting and spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends who loved her very much. Survivors include a son, Marty (Dorothy) Crowder of Hartsville; one daughter: Theresia (Barry) Reid of Lafayette. The family will welcome friends at Hall Funeral Home on Monday, October 4, until 8 PM.  The family requests that donations be made to the Union Hill Cemetery Trust Fund in Mrs. Crowder’s memory.

Funeral services for Mrs. Lola Willene Robinson Heady, age 86 of Sparta, will be conducted Tuesday, October 5, at 2 pm in the chapel of Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Hensley Cemetery in the Freewill Community. Mrs. Heady passed away Saturday, October 2, 2021, at her son’s residence in Sparta. She was born March 1, 1935, the daughter of Lonnie Russell Robinson and Lewis Frances Chaffin Robinson. She was retired factory worker and a member of the Center Grove Church of Christ. Survivors include her husband, Fred Heady of Gainesboro; one son, Terry (Rhonda) Robinson of Sparta. Visitation will be held Monday, October 4, until 8 pm at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home, and again on Tuesday, from 11 am to 2 pm.

A memorial service for Mrs. Brenda Lee Wilkey Rose, age 60 of Cookeville, will be held Tuesday, October 5, at 6:00 p.m., from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home. Mrs. Rose passed away Monday, September 27, 2021, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born April 22, 1961, in Elwood, IN.  She was a homemaker to her large family. She enjoyed playing games on her computer, where she was a member of a Euchre League, an online card game with players from around the world in her league. She also loved to listen to country music. He most treasured time though was being a mother and nana to eight children, seventeen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Survivors include her husband of 27 years, William Rose; children, Monty Cox, Jr., Rebecca Sizelove, Michael Cox & wife, Amy, Lucy Sizelove-Shanks & husband, Michael, Destiney Frady & fiance, Christopher Humes, and Amanda Sizelove;  her mother, Mary Wilkey. She was preceded in death by her father, Joe Wilkey, Sr.; and two sons, Christopher Nathan Cox and Sean Wesley Cox. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 4-6:00 p.m. at Hunter Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hunter Funeral Home, PO Box 90, Sparta, TN, 38583, to help the Rose family with funeral expenses.

Funeral services for Mr. Doyel Roberts, age 81 of Monterey, will be conducted Wednesday, October 6, at 11:00 AM from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Welch Memorial Cemetery. Mr. Roberts passed away Friday, October 1, 2021, at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was born Saturday, June 15, 1940, in Monterey, to the late Carlie And Odie Phillips Roberts. Mr. Roberts was a coal miner and a factory worker. He was past Master of Green Pond Masonic Lodge #703. He was a member of Three Forks Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Jimmy Whittaker of Cookeville; a son and daughter-in-law, Carroll and Terri Roberts Of Monterey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Teola Roberts. The family will receive friends Goff Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 5, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

Funeral services for Mr. Gary Franklin England, age 67 of Sparta, will be conducted Thursday, October 7, at 1:00 p.m., at Sparta First Freewill Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Taylor’s Providence Cemetery. Mr. England passed away Saturday, October 2, 2021, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center as a result of Covid-19. He was born April 18, 1954, in Sparta. He had a long career as a heating and air technician. He was so successful that he retired as a Heating and Air Instructor at TCAT. He was an avid NASCAR and NFL fan, devoting his Sundays to flipping channels between the two sports after attending Sparta First Freewill Baptist Church on Sunday mornings. Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Bonnie England of Sparta; children, Johnny Bryant of Sparta, Elizabeth (Ross) Peruzzi of Cookeville, Sam (Autumn) England of South Carolina, Ryan (Angie) England of Cookeville, Tisha England of Nashville, Terri Parisia of Arizona; his mother, Elega (Morris) Hobbs of Spencer. Gary was preceded in death by his father, Eldie England. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., Thursday at Sparta First Freewill Baptist Church.

A Celebration of Life service for Mr. Harold “Buddy” Crabtree, age 64 of Rickman, will be held on Thursday, October 7, at 6 PM. Mr. Crabtree passed away Thursday, September 23, 2021, at his home of 43 years. He was born Thursday, June 20, 1957, to the late Harold and Dorise (Barnes) Crabtree in Livingston. He always had his family at heart and was a hard working man. Buddy was baptized in the Church of Christ Faith. He spent most of his younger years on the family’s houseboat on Dale Hollow Lake with his wife and son. Traveling the country with his son driving tour buses for some of the biggest stars in music and he centered his life around his family, especially his grandchildren. He built wings for the B-1 Bomber at Affco before retiring with 33 years from Fleetguard. He was a wonderful husband, father, and absolutely the best “Pa” anyone could ask for. He will be missed beyond measure by all that knew him. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Connie Sullivan Crabtree; one son, Jacob Harold Crabtree and his wife, Adrienne. The family will welcome friends at the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston on Thursday, October 7, starting at 4 PM.

A visitation for the family and friends of Mr. Gordon Gene Stephens, age 74 of Cookeville, will be held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 16, 2021, at Crest Lawn Funeral Home in Cookeville. There will be an Honor Guard presentation at 1:00 pm. Mr. Stephens passed away Sunday, September 26, 2021, surrounded by his family. Gordon proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He proudly rode with and was a member of the Mechanized Calvary, First Battalion, Company “A”. He loved to ride his Harley Davidson motorcycle with his wife, Brenda, and friends. He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda Stephens; and daughter, April Wiseman. Following the visitation, Gordon will be taking his last ride to Big Puckett’s Campground where they will be celebrating his life. A pot luck meal will be served. Please bring a dish to share.
