The Queen of Dance in the UC. Hard not to give Ella Copton that title when you consider she was a member of the CHS dance team just a few years ago. Since then she has helped start several middle school programs, choreographed for Upperman among others, is now the active head coach at LA, and is starting a studio of her own UC Stars Dance (https://www.ucstarsdance.com/ourstaff).
Again, as you can see, difficult not to call her the queen, or at least a dominant force, in dance across the UC.
Coach Copton was kind enough to sit down for an extended interview with me and we were able to discuss everything from her youth and growing up here in the UC, to what is dance team and competitive dance, as well as how to get involved, and why she believes dance, especially competitive dance, is thriving right now.
