Obituaries For Wednesday, January 29

 

Graveside Services for Mr. Jerry Sanders Dugan, age 84, of Livingston, will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at the Ruth Chapel Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided at the graveside by the Overton County Veterans Honor Guard. Jerry passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at his home in Livingston. He was born on October 21, 1940, in Nashville, Tennessee, to Mary Estella Coward. Jerry served his country in the National Guard Army and worked for many years in bridge construction with the state of Tennessee. He enjoyed traveling with his late wife, eating at JD’s Sandwich Shop, and having a bit of chocolate. Jerry is survived by his wife, Linda Dugan, of Livingston, TN, and his nephew, Mark Danner, and his family, of Livingston. The family will greet friends at the graveside.

 

Funeral Services for Mr. Jimmy Wayne Young, age 76 of Livingston, will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday in the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Bro. Jeremy Williams will officiate, and burial will follow in Beaty Cemetery, with Military Honors provided at the graveside by the Overton County Veteran Honor Guard. Jimmy passed away peacefully on Sunday night, January 26, 2025, at the Overton County Health & Rehab. Born on May 30, 1948, in Monroe, Tennessee, to the late Gilbert and Mary Jaynes Young, Jimmy was a man who lived a quiet, meaningful life. He served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, and after returning home, he devoted much of his time to his dairy farm, working the land he loved. He also enjoyed the simple pleasures—taking long walks, riding his 4-wheeler around the countryside, and tending to a garden that seemed to grow as large as his heart. But it was his family that truly brought him the most joy. Jimmy was a devoted father and grandfather, always finding ways to show his love and care. His memory will live on in his son, Phillip Young and his wife, Brooke, of Livingston; grandchildren, Barrett Young, Cason Young, Haleigh Coffey, and Eden Young; his sisters, Claranel Lancaster and husband Ray of Cookeville, and Barbara Krispin and husband Bill of Nashville; and his brother, Kenneth Young and wife Ann of Scottsboro, AL. The family will welcome friends from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

 

Funeral Services for Joyce Carolyn Garrett, age 74 of Livingston, will be held Thursday, January 30, 2025, at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Hall Funeral Home, Livingston, TN with Pastor Mike Owens Officiating.  Serving as Pallbearers will be Robbert Gillentine, T. J. Gunnels, Jeff Polley, Sean Murphy, Jerry Pigg, and Sam Meadows. Interment will immediately follow the funeral service in the Smyrna Cemetery in Byrdstown. She passed away Sunday, January 26, 2025, at TriStar Summit Medical Center in Hermitage, Tennessee.  Carolyn was born to the late Elbert and Lucille Pennington on Thursday, January 25, 1951, in Livingston. Carolyn is survived by her daughters: Donna Polley of Livingston, and Deanna Gunnels (T. J.) of Livingston; her adopted, special daughter: Cyndi Payne of Sparta, Tennessee; her grandchildren: Ashley Ringley of Livingston, Robbert Gillentine (Meriam) of Monroe, Tennessee, and Kristian Michaelson of Marion, Indiana; 6 great grandchildren: Abbie and Addy Allen, Peyton, Clayton, Laniey, and Mallie Gillentine. Visitation takes place Wednesday, January 29, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hall Funeral Home, Livingston, and again on Thursday, January 30, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

 

Funeral Services for Mr. Leslie Harold Pryor, age 70 of the Freedonia Community, will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, January 30, 2025, in the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Bro. Bobby Gore will officiate, and burial will follow in the Potter West Cemetery. Leslie passed away on Sunday afternoon, January 26, 2025, at his home. He was born on July 17, 1954, in Livingston, Tennessee, to the late Clyde and Faye Conatser Pryor. Leslie was a fun loving man who enjoyed simple pleasures in life, like shooting matches, restoring old cars, fishing, and spending time outdoors. Above all, he valued being with his family, and they brought him great happiness. He is survived by his daughter, Misty Pryor of Monroe, TN; granddaughter, Jordan Jenkins and fiancée Zack Reed of Rickman, TN; grandson, Jayden Jenkins; great-granddaughters, Kinsley Reed and Lynnley Reed; and sisters, Sandara Linder and husband Allen of Livingston, TN, and Brenda Dreadon of Watertown, TN. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

 

Funeral Services for Mr. Billy Ray Dillon, age 92 of Livingston, will be held Friday, January 31, 2025 at 1 PM from the chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston, with cremation to follow. Officiating will be Aron Dillon and Mark Neely. He passed Sunday January 26, 2025. Dillon, born to, Robert Lee Dillon and Essie Ruth Gore Dillon on Saturday, March 05, 1932 in Livingston, Overton Co., TN. Bill served in the National Guard. His occupations were Carpenter and Brick Layer.  Bill loved his family and spending time with them. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Dillon is survived by, his children, Fran (Danny) Smith, Sherry (Larry) Herron, Danny Dillon, Robert (Moira) Dillon, Mark ( Denise) Dillon, and Christy (Brandon) Poore. And by his siblings, Judy Reagan and Ruth Ashinhurst. 15 Grandchildren, 17 Great Grand Children and 1 Great Great Grandchild. Along with many other friends and family. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday morning, January 31, 2025 starting at 10 AM until time of service at 1 PM.
