Mrs. Marsha Lynn Maxwell, age 67 of Cookeville, passed away Sunday, October 10, 2021, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. She was born January 10, 1954, in Detroit, MI, to the late Willie Clyde and Ava Nell Flatt Pippin. She was a homemaker and member of Bussell Church of Christ. Marsha enjoyed crocheting, sewing and spending time with family and friends. She was a loving wife and mother. Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Roney Keith Maxwell; daughters and a son-in-law, Melissa and Chris Langdon, and Sarah Lynn Maxwell, all of Cookeville; son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Cathy Maxwell of Baxter.
Ms. Lisa Ann Martin, age 59 of Gainesboro and formerly of Bedford, IN, passed away Saturday, October 9, 2021, at her home. No services are planned at this time. She was born November 8, 1961, in Seymor, IN, to the late Franices H. Sweany Jr. and Esther Caplinger Sweany. Survivors include two daughters, Lisa Ann (Ivan) Goen of Bedford, IN, Jenny (Tom) Ely of Austin, IN; one son, Tommy (Becky) Graham of New Castle, IN.
Mrs. Amanda Fox, age 93 of Cookeville and formerly of Tompkinsville, KY, passed away Saturday, October 9, 2021, at Bailey Manor in Cookeville. Private graveside services will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tompkinsville, KY. Mrs. Fox was born in November, 1927, in Tompkinsville, to the late Cloyd and Bertha Emmett Williams. Amanda received her BS Degree in Education from Lipscomb University. She was a retired teacher with Monroe County High School, with 30 years of service. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include her son, Dr. Eric Fox. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Lee Fox; and a son, John Michael Fox.
Mrs. Betty Jo Curtis Hall, age 66 of Bloomington Springs, passed away Saturday, October 9, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. The family has chosen cremation, with memorial services at a later date at the Wilhite Church in Cookeville. Mrs. Hall was born May 4, 1955, in Livingston, to the late Paskell and Roberta Gore Curtis. She worked at the Russell Stover Candy Factory. Survivors include her husband, John Hall of Bloomington Springs; three daughters, Michelle Davis of Cookeville, Angelia Amy Gentry of Granville, and Shelia Marie Hall of Cookeville.
Ms. Lisa Michelle Warden, age 55 of Knoxville and formerly of Livingston, passed away Saturday, October 9, 2021, at TriStar Stonecrest Medical Center in Smyrna. A memorial service will be held at a later date. She was born April 23, 1966, in Livingston, the daughter of the late U.L. and Ruby Steward Warden. Survivors include a daughter, Ruby Shantelle Wilkins of Murfreesboro.
Funeral services for Dr. Joel David Gaw, age 36 of Gainesboro, will be held Wednesday, October 13, at 11 a.m., at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Zion Cemetery. Dr. Gaw passed away Saturday, October 9, 2021. He was born on November 26, 1984, in Cookeville. He was a 2003 graduate of Jackson County High School, a 2007 graduate Tennessee Technological University, and a 2011 graduate of the University Of Tennessee, Memphis, School Of Dentistry. Dr. Joel practiced dentistry at Gaw Family Dentistry (Gainesboro & Cookeville) and Cookeville Regional Dental Associates. Dr. Joel was a wonderful Christian example in this world. He was a member of the Zion Church of Christ. He served on several mission trips abroad, at many youth events and during church services. He was a kind and giving soul who always had a smile which is how he will be remembered in the hearts of all the lives he touched. Survivors include his parents, Dr. Ted and Janice Gaw of Gainesboro; brothers Eric (Lacey) Gaw of Lawrenceburg, KY, and Dr. Brad (Sarah) Gaw of Whitleyville. Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 12, until 8 p.m., and again Wednesday, October 13, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m., at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro.
Graveside services for Mrs. Reba Ashburn Goff, age 90 of Baxter, will be Wednesday, October 13, at 11 a.m., at Goff Cemetery. Mrs. Goff passed away Sunday October 11, 2021, at NHC of Cookeville. She was born January 20, 1931, in Putnam County, to the late Willie Esker Ashburn and Fannie Pauline Herren Ashburn. Reba was a member of Ozion Freewill Baptist Church. She was retired from ACME Boot. Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn Nash; son, Larry Goff, both of Baxter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Owen Goff; son, Donald Lee Goff.
Funeral services for Mr. Ben Allen Johnson, age 63 of Walling, will be held Wednesday, October 13, at 11:00 a.m., at Oak Lawn Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Shady Grove Cemetery. Mr. Johnson passed away Sunday, October 10, 2021, at his home. He was born June 24, 1958, in Sparta, the son of the late Leonard and Ruby Rittenberry Johnson. He loved being outside taking care of his cows. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding his razor with his friends. He loved his family and was a wonderful husband and dad. He worked at BASF for 33 years. He was one of the first employees that was hired there. Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Diane Carter Johnson of Walling; one son, Mark Allen Johnson of Walling; a stepdaughter, Christy Pickett of Rossville, GA. The family will welcome friends on Tuesday, October 12, until 8:00 p.m. at Oak Lawn Funeral Home.
Graveside services for Mr. Joseph Hill, age 84 of Cookeville, will be Wednesday, October 13, at at 11:30 a.m., at Scott Farley Cemetery in Cookeville. Mr. Hill passed away Sunday, October 10, 2021, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born Monday, September 13, 1937, in Detroit, MI, the son of the late James Hill and the late Ima Scott Hill. Joe served his country with honor and pride in the U. S. Navy for over 23 years, achieving the rank of Chief. He was the secretary-treasurer for the USS Rochester Association, attending reunions every two years. He and Joe II started Hill’s Termite and Pest Control in 1989, spending over 31 years working. Joe was also the secretary for the START CPR program for 21 years. In 2018, Joe tried to retire, however couldn’t sit still, thus returning back to work until 2020. Joe didn’t know a stranger, speaking to and becoming friends with everyone he met. His life can be summed up as being the “Book of Proverbs.” Most of all he loved the Lord and his family. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Julia Barnes Hill; two daughters, Ramona (Richard) Pahl of Cookeville, and Sheena Hill of Cookeville; one son, Joe (Gaye Ann) Hill of Cookeville. Funeral services for Mrs. Lisa L. Smith, age 57 of Livingston, will be held Wednesday, October 13, at 12 Noon, in the chapel of Hall Funeral Home of Livingston. Burial will follow in the Sells Cemetery in Monroe. Mrs. Smith passed away Sunday, October 10, 2021, at Cookeville Regional Hospital. She was born in Franklin, IN, on Wednesday, August 5, 1964, to Oscar Van Taylor and the late Margie Sue (Adams) Taylor. Lisa loved her family and friends very much, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Survivors include her husband, Timmy Smith; two sons, John Clark Sewell, Jr., Robert Sewell and Katie Hoffmeyer; two daughters, Angel Smith, Candace Wolfe; her father, Oscar Van Taylor. The family will welcome friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 13, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
A graveside service for Mrs. Lela Marie Cowan, age 81 of Cookeville, will be Thursday, October 14, at 11:00 a.m., at Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Cowan passed away Monday, October 11, 2021, at Bethesda Health Care Center in Cookeville. She was salutatorian of the Putnam Senior High School in 1957, and went on to receive her undergraduate degree and 2 Master’s degrees in accounting and education. She worked at Tennessee Technological University as a grant account until her retirement after 20 years of service. She was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, and a member of the Civitan International. Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Billy Edward Cowan; two daughters, Brenda Cowan Miller (Dale), and Jennifer Cowan-Henderson (David), of Cookeville.
Funeral services for Charlie King Wester Sr., age 83 of Cookeville, will be Thursday, October 14, at 1 p.m., at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper, Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Crest Lawn Cemetery. Mr. Wester passed away Friday, October 8, 2021, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born April 19, 1938, in Putnam County, to the late Fred and Edna Wester. Charlie proudly worked at Fleetguard (Cummings Filtration) for over 30 years, and he retired in 2003. He enjoyed serving at McClellan Avenue Church of Christ. He enjoyed joking around and loved to see others smile. If you ever rode in a vehicle with him, you know he never took the straight route. He was a loving and caring man. Survivors include his wife, Mary Roberts Wester; daughters, Terry Long, Felecia Roberts, Jacqueline Shockley, Karen English (Richard), Darlene Hardy, and Dawn Hollins (George). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, Phillips Roberts and Charlie King Wester Jr. The family will receive friends Thursday, from 11 a.m. until service time.

Mr. Collins passed away Sunday, October 10, 2021. He was born Sunday, October 28, 1962, in Livingston, the son of Anna Ruth Carr Collins and the late Johnnie Defoy Collins. David was the owner of Woodboys firewood and lawn care. He was a loving husband, father, and papa to his two granddaughters. He always put family first and was a hard working man. He always enjoyed vacation with his family. Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Lisa Loftis Collins; two daughters, Melisa Ann Collins and Beverly Ann Collins. The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 13, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and Thursday, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Mr. Schock passed away Friday, October 8, 2021, at his residence. He was born in Long Beach, CA, on April 13, 1953, to the late Frances Pickering and Monette Una House Schock. Survivors include his wife, Claire Schock of Livingston; sons Sharonn Schock of Anaheim, CA, and Richard “Richie” Schock and wife, Asha, of Huntington Beach, CA. The family will welcome friends Thursday, from 2:00 p.m. until the time of services at 3:00 p.m.

Interment will follow at Allison Cemetery. Mr. Martin passed away Friday October 8, 2021, at NHC of Cookeville. Funeral services for Mr. Charles Poston, age 67 of Sparta, will be held Saturday, October 16, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., in the chapel of Hunter Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Old Bon Air Cemetery. Mr. Poston passed away Monday, October 11, 2021, at his residence. He was born August 26, 1953 in Quebeck, to the late Carlos Lee Poston, Sr and Vella Mai Redmon Poston. Charles was retired from Thomas Industries and after retiring, he was the custodian for the Doyle Elementary School. Survivors include his wife, Darlene Emerton Poston; son, Charles Richard Poston, II and wife, Sandra. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday.
A visitation for the family and friends of Mr. Gordon Gene Stephens, age 74 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, October 16, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., at Crest Lawn Funeral Home in Cookeville. There will be an Honor Guard presentation at 1 p.m. Mr. Stephens passed away Sunday, September 26, 2021, surrounded by his family. Gordon proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He proudly rode with and was a member of the Mechanized Calvary, First Battalion, Company “A”. He loved to ride his Harley Davidson motorcycle with his wife, Brenda, and friends. He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda Stephens; and daughter, April Wiseman. Following the visitation, Gordon will be taking his last ride to Big Puckett’s Campground where they will be celebrating his life. A pot luck meal will be served. Please bring a dish to share.

A visitation for Ms. Pamela Boles, age 59 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, October 30, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., at Presley Funeral Home. Ms. Boles passed away Friday, October 8, 2021, at her home. She was born Tuesday, February 20, 1962, in Barberton, OH, the daughter of the late John Wilson and the late Cynthia Boles Wilson. Pam was a fun loving person. She was a good mom, sister, and friend to who ever needed one. Pam enjoyed the outdoors, camping and fishing were her favorites. Survivors include two sons, Bobby Boles of Cookeville, and Michael Boles of Pensacola, FL.
