Mr. James Arlis Bilbrey, age 90 of Monterey, passed away Sunday, November 7, 2021, at Cedar Hills Senior Living in Cookeville. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
Mr. Donald Arger Taylor, age 86 of Crawford, passed away Friday November 5, 2021, at his home. No services are scheduled at this time. Mr. Taylor was born March 17, 1935, in Seneca, SC, to the late Logan Terrell Taylor and Bessie Edmonds Taylor. He served in the U.S. Navy for 12 years and later worked in civil service in Charleston, SC. After retirement, he moved to Tennessee and worked for FB Service in Cookeville. Survivors include his wife, Marsha Peterson Taylor; step-children, Michael (Lisa) Heatherly of Knoxville, Eric (Cassie) Heatherly of Maryville, and Rhonda Brown of Lebanon.
Funeral services for Mrs. Lura “Juanita” (Sullivan) Stout, age 84 of Cookeville, will be held Tuesday, November 9, at 1:00 p.m., from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home. Entombment will follow in the Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery mausoleum. Mrs. Stout passed away Saturday, November 6, 2021, at her home. She as born Thursday, March 4, 1937, in Cookeville, the daughter of the late James Payton Sullivan and the late Nellie Ann (Quarles) Sullivan. Juanita was a loving wife, daughter, sister, mother, NeNe, and friend. Survivors include a son, Jimmy Stout; daughter, Glynda McDaniel. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Stout; daughter, Linda Stout. Visitation will be held Tuesday, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service, at Crest Lawn Funeral Home.
Funeral services for Mr. Stanton Kinnard, age 82 of Sparta, will be held Wednesday, November 10, at 10:00 a.m., from the chapel of Hunter Funeral Home. Burial with full military honors by the Veterans’ Honor Guard will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Mr. Kinnard passed away Sunday, November 7, 2021, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born April 17, 1939, in Sparta, to the late Willie Homer and Elizabeth Johnson Kinnard. Stanton was a brick mason prior to founding Aqua Pool in 1977, which he owned and operated until 2000. Stanton was also a farmer and an incredibly active father for his son Stan – from sponsoring Tee-ball teams to serving as Cub Scout Den Leader to helping him with school projects. Stanton proudly served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany on the Czechoslovakian border as part of a three-man crew with a Davy Crockett Weapon System. Survivors include son Stan Kinnard and wife Marcie In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his wife, Joan Pitman Kinnard; two daughters, Melonie and Dawn Kinnard. The family will receive friends Tuesday, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Hunter Funeral Home.
A memorial service for Ms. Pat J. Forkum, age 78 of Gainesboro, will be held Wednesday, November 10, at 2:00 p.m., at Gainesboro First United Methodist Church. Ms. Forkum passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at her residence. She was born April 6, 1943 in Detroit, MI, the daughter of the late Jonah and Edna Jackson Roberts. She was an administrative assistant for the University of Tennessee Extension Service for 33 years and also a State Farm Insurance Agent. She was a member of the Gainesboro First United Methodist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Patty (Lee) Kuykendall of Jemison, AL, and Leslie Clark of Gainesboro. Memorial donations may be made to the Gainesboro First United Methodist Church or Jackson County 4-H Clubs by contacting Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home.
Graveside services for Mr. Paul Richard Weist, age 83 of Monterey, will be held Thursday, November 11, 2021, at 1:00 p.m., at Pine Ridge Cemetery. Mr. Weist passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at his home. He was born Saturday, April 16, 1938, in Monterey, to the late Curtis Phillips and Mabel Tudor Phillips Weist. Mr. Weist and his wife, Clarice “Chris” Weist, owned and operated the Cup and Saucer restaurant in Monterey for over 20 years. He was a bread route salesperson for 45 years in Ohio and California, and was a member of Teamsters Union for 45 Years. He attended Monterey Church of the Nazarene and Hope In Christ Fellowship. Survivors include four daughters, Tina (Wayne) Lukaris of Crandall, TX, Teresa (Roland) Barnes of Monterey, Tammy (Keith) Moody of San Francisco, CA, Paula Weist (Tony Fries) of Fair Oaks, CA; one son, Paul Scott Weist of Stockton, CA. The family will receive friends at the graveside.
Funeral services for Mr. Silas “Buddy” Hall Scoggins, Jr., age 74 of Jackson County, will be held Thursday, November 11, at 2:00 p.m., in the chapel of Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Draper Cemetery in the Wartrace Community of Jackson County. Mr. Scoggins passed away Saturday, November 6, 2021, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born February 8, 1947, in Sheffield, AL, the son of the late Silas Hall Scoggins, Sr. and Annie Crowder. Mr. Scoggins was a laborer in construction and a member of the McCoinsville Church of Christ. He was married to Jonna Marie Scoggins who passed away on October 31, 2004, for 36 years of marriage. Survivors include his son, Matthew (Amanda) Scoggins of Gainesboro. Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 9, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Morrison Funeral Home in Tuscumbia, AL, then on Wednesday, November 10, from 2:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m., and Thursday, November 11, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home.
Graveside services for Mr. Louis “Lou” Roger Labrie, age 69 of Silver Point, will be held Friday, November 12, at 3:00 p.m., at Smellage Memory Gardens in the Boma Community of Putnam County. Mr. Labrie died Sunday, October 31, 2021 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born February 12, 1952, in New Hampshire, to the late Leo and Theresa Labrie. Lou was a disabled Army veteran and lived in the Boma Community for over 35 years. He enjoyed cokes, marlboros, TV, camping and was a “unique individual.” Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Samantha and Matthew Anderson of Portsmith, VA; two sons and daughters-in-law, Isaac and Kathrin Labrie of Sparta, Simon and Yasmine Labrie of Belgium. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Family and friends will gather at the cemetery for the service.
Graveside services for Mrs. JoHanna Ruth Holt, age 82 of Sparta, will be held Saturday, November 13, at 11:00 a.m., at Oak Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Holt passed away Saturday, November 6, 2021, at Cumberland Medical Center. She was born April 7, 1939, in Jamestown, NY, the daughter of the late Arthur and Ruth Peterson Nelson. Survivors include her husband, Tim Holt of Sparta; son, Randy Sprague of Jamestown, NY; daughter, Sandy Kent of Sparta.
A memorial service for Ms. Sharon Annette Burton, age 62 of Sparta, will be Saturday, November 13, at 2:00 p.m, at Oakwood Street Church of Christ. Ms. Burton passed away Thursday, November 4, 2021, at St. Thomas West Hospital after a brief illness. She was born July 14, 1959, in Sparta, to the late Monroe Sevier & Evelyn Richmond Burton. She was a former employee of Mallory and LTD. Her proudest accomplishment was being Grandma Sharon to grandchildren. Survivors include her son, J.R. Drake and Mindy Patrick of Rock Island. The family will receive friends Saturday, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oakwood Street Church of Christ.
