Mrs. Magnolia Swallows, age 94 of Monterey, passed away Monday, November 1, 2021, at her home. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Mr. Larry Wallace Goolsby, age 70 of Sparta, passed away Sunday, October 31, 2021, at his home. The family has chosen cremation, and no services are scheduled at this time. Mr. Goolsby was born February 17, 1951, in Livingston, the son of the late James and Jimmie West Goolsby. He enjoyed golf and University of Tennessee sports. Survivors include his wife, June Young Goolsby of Sparta; two sons, Phillip Goolsby of Livingston and Bobby Tucker (Essie) of Sparta.

Funeral services for Mrs. Jeanetta Kay Reagan, age 71 of Cookeville, will be held Wednesday, November 3, at 12:00 p.m., from the chapel of Hall Funeral Home of Livingston. Burial will follow in the Old Bethel Cemetery in Monroe. Mrs. Reagan passed away Saturday, October 30, 2021 at the Saint Thomas Midtown in Nashville. She was born in Anderson, IN, on Tuesday, February 14, 1950, to the late John C. and Wanda (Wiles) Smith. Jeanetta loved her Lord and Savior very much, and she also loved her family. Survivors include her children, Tammy Colson (Tim Breeding), Richard Rinker, Robert (Lana) Rinker, Pamela (James) Buck, JR Reagan and Rachel Reagan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Reagan. The family will welcome friends at the funeral home Wednesday, from 9:00 a.m. until the service time.

Funeral services for Mrs. Vola Norton, age 100 of Double Springs, will be held Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at 2:00 p.m., from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Norton passed away Friday, October 30, at her home. She was born in Double Springs, to the late Noah Lee and Cora (Chaffin) Loftis. She was the seventh of twelve children born to the couple. On March 21, 1946, she and Charles Earl Norton eloped to be married. He preceded her in death in April, 1996, after celebrating 50 years of marriage. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Fuzz Fox. The family will receive friends at Crest Lawn Funeral Home on Tuesday, until 8:00 p.m., and again on Wednesday, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m.

Celebration of Life services for Ms. Doris Miars, age 70 of Monterey, will be conducted Wednesday, November 3, at 3:00 p.m., from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home. Inurnment will follow in the Welch Memorial Cemetery. Ms. Miars passed away Friday, September 24, in Gilbert, AZ. She was born in Dunkirk, IN, to the late Earl and Callie Ray (McCowan) Harris. She graduated from Dunkirk High School and attended First Freewill Baptist Church. She was quite proud of working from age 17 until her retirement at age 67 without a lapse in any years. She had several jobs over the course of her work career, starting at Boston’s Store in Dunkirk, Indiana at age 17. She loved working for several years at Stantec, a global engineering and consulting firm in Phoenix, AZ, as an HR manager. Her most recent job was for Stoops Buick and GMC dealership in Muncie, IN, and was always amazed when people recognized her from appearing in some of their commercials. She made several lifelong friends throughout her work history. Survivors include one sister, Estell (Collins) Sisco, of Crawford. The family will receive friends at Goff Funeral Home, Wednesday, November 3, from 1:00 p.m. until time of services at 3:00 p.m.

Funeral services for Mrs. Helen Marie Smallwood, age 71 of Cookeville, will be held Friday, November 5, at 1:00 p.m., from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home. Mrs. Smallwood passed away Sunday, October 31, 2021. She was born Monday, November 14, 1949, in Warren, MI, the daughter of the late William and Agnes (Sliwinski) Yourdan. Helen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and sister. She loved doing anything with her grandchildren and anything to do with Upperman sports. Helen was a kind soul and mother to all. Survivors include her husband, Randle Smallwood; daughters, Becky (Donna) Smallwood, Crystal (Kyle) Cooper, and Joy Matthews; son, Marty (Laura) Smallwood. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, November 5, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m.

Masonic Funeral Rites for Mr. Jackie Lynn Hodge Jr., age 51 of Sparta, will be held Friday, November 5, at 1:30 p.m., at Oak Lawn Funeral Home, with funeral services to immediately follow. Mr. Hodge passed away Saturday, October 30, 2021, at Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro. He was born November 1, 1969, in Sparta, the son of Jackie Lynn Hodge Sr. and the late Shirley O’dell Hodge. Jackie was a member of the White County Rescue Squad and the White County Sheriff’s Department for several years. He was also a member of the local Masonic Lodge #99. He loved riding Harley Davidson motorcycles and ford trucks. Survivors include his wife, Jennifer DeLynn Hodge of Sparta; daughters, Terri Elaine Hodge Morris (James) of Sparta, and Anna Victoria Ealey of Nashville; sons, Sean Todd Markus (Melissa) of Sparta, and Brandon Alexander Markus of Florida. The family will receive friends Friday, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m., at the funeral home.

Funeral services for Mrs. Tracy Smith, age 33 of Gainesboro, will be held Friday, November 5, at 2:00 p.m., at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro. Mrs. Smith passed away Saturday, October 30, 2021, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born August 10, 1988, in Warren, MI, to Nicholas Bianchi , Sr. and Cheryl Carlile. On August 27, 2016, she was married to Joshua Smith. She was a home health care worker. She is survived by her parents and her husband. The family will receive friends Thursday, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and Friday from 11:00 a.m. until time of services. A celebration of life gathering for Mr. John “Jack” William Carkner, age 84 of Cookeville, will be held Friday, November 5, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at Hooper, Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Mr. Carkner passed away on Friday, October 22, 2021, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born November 15, 1936, in Albany, NY, to the late John William and Effie Mae VanValkenburgh Carkner. He served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy. Jack was employed as a supervisor with Mobil Oil Corporation in Albany, NY for over 30 years. He was friendly and outgoing, and enjoyed his Corvette, bowling and gardening. He was a good friend and a loving husband, father and grandfather. Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Anne Carkner; daughters, Karen (Leon) Schumacher, Lori (Jeff) Austin, and Jacki (Jed) York; son, John W. (Tania) Carkner, III. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 30 years, Patricia Carkner. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cookeville/Putnam Co. Animal Shelter, 2650 Gainesboro Grade, Cookeville, TN, 38501, or to a charity of your choice.

Celebration of Life services for Mr. Billy R. Nolen age 83 of the Twin Oaks community, will be held Saturday, November 6, at 1:00 p.m., from Good Hope Cemetery. Mr. Nolen passed away Saturday, January 16, 2021, from Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born in Overton County on October 12, 1937, to the late Francis Marion and Mae Bilbrey Nolen. After graduation from Livingston Academy, he joined the US Air Force. Upon discharge from the military, he became a TN Highway Patrolman. Later in life, he was a merchant and field office manager for a construction company. After retirement, Billy enjoyed gardening and cooking. He was especially known for his fried apple pies and dried-apple stack fruit cakes. Survivors include his twin sister, Betty Nolen Copeland of Cookeville, and sister, Katy Nolen Vaughn of Livingston. Memorial donations in memory of Billy Nolen may be made to the Good Hope Annex by contacting Speck Funeral Home.

A memorial service for Ms. Pat J. Forkum, age 78 of Gainesboro, will be held Wednesday, November 10, at 2:00 p.m., at Gainesboro First United Methodist Church. Ms. Forkum passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at her residence. She was born April 6, 1943 in Detroit, MI, the daughter of the late Jonah and Edna Jackson Roberts. She was an administrative assistant for the University of Tennessee Extension Service for 33 years and also a State Farm Insurance Agent. She was a member of the Gainesboro First United Methodist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Patty (Lee) Kuykendall of Jemison, AL, and Leslie Clark of Gainesboro. Memorial donations may be made to the Gainesboro First United Methodist Church or Jackson County 4-H Clubs by contacting Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home.

Graveside services for Mr. Paul Richard Weist, age 83 of Monterey, will be held Thursday, November 11, 2021, at 1:00 p.m., at Pine Ridge Cemetery. Mr. Weist passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at his home. He was born Saturday, April 16, 1938, in Monterey, to the late Curtis Phillips and Mabel Tudor Phillips Weist. Mr. Weist and his wife, Clarice “Chris” Weist, owned and operated the Cup and Saucer restaurant in Monterey for over 20 years. He was a bread route salesperson for 45 years in Ohio and California, and was a member of Teamsters Union for 45 Years. He attended Monterey Church of the Nazarene and Hope In Christ Fellowship. Survivors include four daughters, Tina (Wayne) Lukaris of Crandall, TX, Teresa (Roland) Barnes of Monterey, Tammy (Keith) Moody of San Francisco, CA, Paula Weist (Tony Fries) of Fair Oaks, CA; one son, Paul Scott Weist of Stockton, CA. The family will receive friends at the graveside.
