Mr. John William “Jack” Carkner, age 84 of Cookeville, passed away Friday, October 22, 2021, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Mr. Tommy Joseph Lawson, age 58 of Sparta, passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2021, at his residence. No services have been announced. Mr. Lawson was born March 27, 1963, in Sparta, to the late William and Mary Lawson. Survivors include his daughter, Lisa Back.

Mr. James Delon Copeland, age 75 of Livingston, passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2021 from the Overton County Health & Rehab. Celebration of Life services will be conducted at a later date. Mr. Copeland passed away Wednesday morning. He was born in Overton County on March 17, 1946, to the late Herman and Stella Gore Copeland. He was a block and brick mason for many years. James enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and being in the outdoors, where he was known by his friends and family as mountain man. Survivors include his brothers, Joe Copeland of Hilham, Shirley Copeland of Livingston, and Allon Copeland of Livingston; sisters, Dortha Carr of Livingston, Linda Howell and husband, Wayne, of Gainesboro, and Irene Smith and husband, Bobby, of Livingston.

Mrs. Sharlene Maynard, age 80 of Sparta, passed away Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at her residence. Per her request, there will be no service. Mrs. Maynard was born Monday, November 25, 1940, in Sparta, to the late Hubert and Pearlie (Taylor) Boles. Sharlene was a retired employee after many years at Mallory Timers, later known as Emerson. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her grandbabies. She loved to cook and was always making sure everyone was fed. She also enjoyed going to yard sales with her daughter. Sharlene was a wonderful and caring wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her. She was a long time member of Sparta First Freewill Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, Gene Maynard and Donald Clay Maynard, both of Sparta; a daughter, Dottie Roberts of Sparta. In addition to her parents, Sharlene was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Donnie Maynard.

Mr. Buddy L. Reynolds, age 83 of Cookeville, passed away Monday, October 25, 2021, at Bethesda Health Care Center. The family has chosen cremation, with private services at a later date. Mr. Reynolds was born January 26, 1938, in Jackson County, the son of the late Raymond Vestal Reynolds and Myrtle Spicer Reynolds. On February 27, 1960, he was married to Mary Reynolds. He was a DVM, and the owner and operator of the Animal Medical Clinic in Cookeville, since 1979. He was a member of the Cookeville First United Methodist Church, and a long-time member of the Cookeville Rotary Club. Mr. Reynolds also served in the U.S. Army. Survivors include his wife, Mary Reynolds of Cookeville; two sons, Dr. James (Eileen) Reynolds of St. Joseph, MO, and Dr. Patrick (Suneetha) Shawn Reynolds of Lewisville, NC; one daughter, Amanda Susan Reynolds of Cookeville. Funeral services for Mrs. Joy Seabolt Winningham, age 84 of Livingston, will be conducted Friday, October 29, at 11:00 a.m., from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Overton County Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Winningham passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at the Overton County Health & Rehab. She was born in Morgan County on November 16, 1936, to the late Henry and Grace Fletcher Seabolt. She was a Baptist and loved being with her family and friends. She enjoyed visiting older people and taking them food. She was known for her candy she made around the holidays, and her tomato garden and her many variety of flowers. Survivors include her daughter, Sherry Munn and husband, Skip, of Smyrna. In addition to her parents, Joy was preceded in death by her husband, Ovid Winningham. The family will welcome friends on Friday, from 10:00 a.m. until time of services.

Funeral services for Mr. Donnie Joel Gentry, age 46 of Cookeville, will be held on Friday, October 29, at 1:00 p.m., at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the John L. Clark Memorial Cemetery in the Stone community of Jackson County. Mr. Gentry passed away Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born May 27, 1975, in Jackson County, to the late Donald Earl Gentry and Myrtie Odesia Pryor Gentry. He was a Christian. Survivors include a son, Dillon Joel Gentry of Cookeville; two daughters, Haley Shea-Lynn Gentry of Cookeville, and Kaylee Michelle Brooke Gentry of Sparta. The family will receive friends on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to help with funeral expenses by contacting the funeral home.

Funeral services for Mr. Kenneth Ray Goines, age 81 of Sparta, will be held Friday, October 29, at 1:00 p.m., at Oak Lawn Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Lower Cherry Creek Cemetery. Mr. Goines passed away Monday, October 25, 2021, at Saint Thomas Highlands Hospital in Sparta. He was born September 7, 1940 in Sparta, the son of the late Casto and Mary Howell Goines. He enjoyed antique cars and car shows, country music, going to Friday night music at Gum Springs, and being with all his friends at the Rise and Shine every morning. Survivors include a daughter, Deborah Biggs (Charles) of Sparta. The family will receive friends Friday, from 11:00 a.m. until time of the service, at the funeral home.

Funeral services for Mr. Billy “Snake” Mitchell, age 83 of Sparta, will be held Friday, October 29, at 1:00 p.m., in the chapel of Hunter Funeral Home. Burial to follow in the Ballew-Blankenship-Baker Cemetery. Mr. Mitchell passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at his residence. He was born August 20, 1938, in White County, to the late Millie Mitchell. He retired as a White County school bus driver after 18 years of service and served in the Tennessee National Guard for two years. He enjoyed fishing and working on lawn mowers. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Mary June Brown Mitchell; two sons, Terry (Tammy) Mitchell and Robert Mitchell. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, Billy Joe Mitchell. The family will receive friends Friday, from 11:00 a.m. until service time.

Funeral services for Mr. William Howard Eller, age 94 of Baxter, will be held Friday, October 29, at 2:00 p.m., from the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Cookeville City Cemetery. Mr. Eller was born on September 16, 1927, in Cookeville, to the late Norvel Joe Eller and Mary Jane Eller. Survivors include a son, Ernie Julian of Baxter; a daughter, Gail Julian of South Carolina. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Eller. The family receive friends at Thursday, until 9:00 p.m., and on Friday, from 11:00 a.m. until time of services at 2:00 p.m.

Funeral services for Mr. Bobby Edward Henry, age 78 of Sparta, will be Friday, October 29, at 2:00 p.m., at Thurman Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Saylors Cemetery. Mr. Henry passed away Monday, October 25, 2021, at his residence in Sparta. He was born on April 15, 1943, in Sparta, to the late JD and Lela Henry. Bobby was a faithful member of Lansden Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife, Linda Gail Griffin Henry; sons, Patrick (and wife Paula) Henry, Brian (and wife Donna) Henry; daughter, Melissa Henry; stepson, Shane (and wife Tiffany) Simmons; stepdaughter, April Simmons. Visitation will be Friday, October 29, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., at Thurman Funeral Home.

A Celebration of Life gathering for Mrs. Linda Sue McCloud, age 61 of Monterey, will be conducted Friday, October 29, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home. Mrs. McCloud passed away Sunday, October 24, 2021, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was a homemaker, and will be best remembered for her outgoing personality. Survivors include her husband, Donnie McCloud; a daughter and son-in-law, Tabatha and Luke Phillips; two sons and daughters-in-law, Trinity and Cindy Phillips, and Billy And Samantha Phillips; one stepdaughter, Emy McCloud.

A visitation for Ms. Pamela Boles, age 59 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, October 30, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., at Presley Funeral Home. Ms. Boles passed away Friday, October 8, 2021, at her home. She was born Tuesday, February 20, 1962, in Barberton, OH, the daughter of the late John Wilson and the late Cynthia Boles Wilson. Pam was a fun loving person. She was a good mom, sister, and friend to who ever needed one. Pam enjoyed the outdoors, camping and fishing were her favorites. Survivors include two sons, Bobby Boles of Cookeville, and Michael Boles of Pensacola, FL.

A memorial service for Mr. Michael Dean Lee, age 69 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, October 30, at 1:00 p.m., at the Dyer Chapel of Hooper, Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Mr. Lee passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at NHC of Cookeville. He was born August 29, 1952 in Cookeville to the late Billy and Ruth Short Lee. Michael was a 1970 graduate of Cookeville High School, and a 1975 graduate of Tennessee Tech University with a degree in History. He had served as a substitute teacher in the Putnam County School system, worked at Pate’s Motorcycle Shop in Chattanooga and Mid-State Kawasaki of Cookeville. He was owner-operator of a lawn care/small engine repair shop. Michael loved to read, especially about history and was a stand-up comedian. He enjoyed NASCAR races and riding motorcycles. He attended West View Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Heather Hogan Lee of Cookeville; daughter, Danielle (Francis) Tommaso of Cookeville; son Kyle (Allie) Lee of Knoxville. The family will receive friends Saturday, from 11 a.m. until service time, at the funeral home.

Memorial services for Mr. Ed Hensley, age 69 of Gainesboro, will be held Saturday, October 30, at 2:00 p.m., at his residence at 227 Hix Hollow Road, Gainesboro. Mr. Hensley passed away Thursday, September 2, 2021, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was the son of the late Cordell Hensley and Roxie Richardson Hensley. He was a logger. Survivors include his daughters, Amanda Lucy (Greg Brown) Hensley of Whitleyville and Heather Hensley of Westmoreland. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Eddie Leeroy Hensley, Jr.

Memorial services for Mr. Tommy Jones, age 66 of Monterey, will be held Saturday, October 30, at 2:00 p.m. at the Monterey United Methodist Church. Mr. Jones passed away September 1, 2021, at his home. He was born October 12, 1954, in Monterey, to the late James Thomas and Mary Sue Williams Jones. Mr. Jones was a janitor with the Monterey school system. He was a 1973 graduate of  Monterey High School, and a member of Monterey United Methodist Church. A visitation with the family will follow the memorial service.

Funeral services for Mrs. Joyce M. Ford Shoemaker, age 83 of Anderson, IN, and formerly of Allons, will be conducted Saturday, October 30, at 2:00 p.m., from the Fellowship Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Fellowship Cemetery. Mrs. Shoemaker passed away Saturday, October 23, 2021, in Anderson, IN. She was born in Allons, to the late Estes and Ada Ford. Survivors include her children, David Shoemaker and wife, Dottie, Kathy Collins, Bob Shoemaker, and Lisa Thomas. In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Caston Shoemaker; and a daughter, Gina Paschal. The family will welcome friends Saturday, from 12:00 p.m. until time of services at 2 p.m., at Fellowship Baptist Church. Memorial donations may be made to the Fellowship Baptist Church by contacting Speck Funeral Home.

Celebration of Life services for Ms. Doris Miars, age 70 of Monterey, will be conducted Wednesday, November 3, at 3:00 p.m., from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home. Inurnment will follow in the Welch Memorial Cemetery. Ms. Miars passed away Friday, September 24, in Gilbert, AZ. She was born in Dunkirk, IN, to the late Earl and Callie Ray (McCowan) Harris. She graduated from Dunkirk High School and attended First Freewill Baptist Church. She was quite proud of working from age 17 until her retirement at age 67 without a lapse in any years. She had several jobs over the course of her work career, starting at Boston’s Store in Dunkirk, Indiana at age 17. She loved working for several years at Stantec, a global engineering and consulting firm in Phoenix, AZ, as an HR manager. Her most recent job was for Stoops Buick and GMC dealership in Muncie, IN, and was always amazed when people recognized her from appearing in some of their commercials. She made several lifelong friends throughout her work history. Survivors include one sister, Estell (Collins) Sisco, of Crawford. The family will receive friends at Goff Funeral Home, Wednesday, November 3, from 1:00 p.m. until time of services at 3:00 p.m.

A memorial service for Ms. Pat J. Forkum, age 78 of Gainesboro, will be held Wednesday, November 10, at 2:00 p.m., at Gainesboro First United Methodist Church. Ms. Forkum passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at her residence. She was born April 6, 1943 in Detroit, MI, the daughter of the late Jonah and Edna Jackson Roberts. She was an administrative assistant for the University of Tennessee Extension Service for 33 years and also a State Farm Insurance Agent. She was a member of the Gainesboro First United Methodist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Patty (Lee) Kuykendall of Jemison, AL, and Leslie Clark of Gainesboro. Memorial donations may be made to the Gainesboro First United Methodist Church or Jackson County 4-H Clubs by contacting Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home.

Graveside services for Mr. Paul Richard Weist, age 83 of Monterey, will be held Thursday, November 11, 2021, at 1:00 p.m., at Pine Ridge Cemetery. Mr. Weist passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at his home. He was born Saturday, April 16, 1938, in Monterey, to the late Curtis Phillips and Mabel Tudor Phillips Weist. Mr. Weist and his wife, Clarice “Chris” Weist, owned and operated the Cup and Saucer restaurant in Monterey for over 20 years. He was a bread route salesperson for 45 years in Ohio and California, and was a member of Teamsters Union for 45 Years. He attended Monterey Church of the Nazarene and Hope In Christ Fellowship. Survivors include four daughters, Tina (Wayne) Lukaris of Crandall, TX, Teresa (Roland) Barnes of Monterey, Tammy (Keith) Moody of San Francisco, CA, Paula Weist (Tony Fries) of Fair Oaks, CA; one son, Paul Scott Weist of Stockton, CA. The family will receive friends at the graveside.
