Ms. Barbara Christine Campbell, age 50 of Sparta, passed away Friday, October 22, 2021, at Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro. The family has chosen cremation and a service will be planned at a later date. Ms. Campbell was born Thursday, March 4, 1971, in Florida, to the late Bill Vaughn and Betty Jenene Council. Survivors include a daughter, Brianna Campbell of Cookeville; two sons, Destin Blake Campbell and Landon Cole Campbell.
Funeral services for Mr. Shirley Eugene Gray, age 72 of Allons, will be held Tuesday, October 26, at 10:00 a.m., from the chapel of Hall Funeral Home of Livingston. Burial will follow in the Overton County Memorial Gardens. Mr. Gray passed away Friday, October 22, 2021. He was born in Celina on Tuesday, February 1, 1949, to the late Howard and Mashie (Killmon) Gray. Shirley was a long haul truck driver for many years. He loved his family very much and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Survivors include a son, Rodney Gray and his wife, Linda; one daughter, Kelly Collins. The family will welcome friends at the funeral home, Monday, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Funeral services for Mrs. Shirley Ann Roarks Melton, age 82 of Cookeville, will be conducted Tuesday, October 26, at 10:00 a.m., from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Fellowship Cemetery. Mrs. Melton passed away Thursday, October 21, 2021. She was a native of Overton County and graduated high school in Pickett County in 1957. Shirley lived a simple life and understood that worldly goods were not what made a life special. She instilled the belief in her children that having each other and staying close made us richer than anything else could. Survivors include her three children, Gary Melton, Vickie Spencer and husband, John, and Tammy Abbott and husband, Rick, all of Cookeville. She was preceded in death by parents, Amos and Cassie Lee Melton Roarks; and her husband of 63 years, Cecil Leon Melton. The family will welcome friends on Monday until 7 p.m., at Speck Funeral Home. Graveside services for Mrs. Ruby Rose Carter, age 98 of the Keeling Branch community of Jackson County, will be held Tuesday, October 26, at 11:00 a.m., at the Rob Draper Memorial Cemetery in the Stone community of Jackson County. Mrs. Carter passed away Sunday, October 24, 2021, at NHC Healthcare in Cookeville. She was born July 25, 1923, in Jackson County, to the late Amos Spurlock and Sally Yates Spurlock. She was married to the late Albert Carter. Ruby was a seamstress, and a member of the Whitleyville Church of Christ. Survivors include a son, Tim (Sherry) Carter of Whitleyville. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, James David Carter. The family will receive friends Monday until 8:00 p.m., at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Mrs. Hutson passed away Friday, October 22, 2021, at her home. She was born May 27, 1940, in Sparta, the daughter of the late Ralston and Annie Gertrude Barnes Swindell. She loved to play gin rummy and Christmas was her favorite holiday. Survivors include her husband, Allen R. Huston of Sparta; son, Alan Young of Sparta. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Lori Faye Young. The family will welcome friends on Monday until 8:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
Graveside services for Mr. Robert “Bob” Frank Nichols, age 79 of Cookeville, will be held Thursday, October 28, at 11:00 a.m., at Crest Lawn Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Veterans Honor Guard. Mr. Nichols passed away Sunday, October 24, 2021, at his home. He was born July 29, 1942, in Baxter, to the late Jesse Donald and Pearlie Brown Nichols. He was U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam era. Bob retired as a coordinator with Porelon of Cookeville, and later was a UCARTS driver. He was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Sharon Herd Nichols of Cookeville; sons and daughters-in-law, Brian and Wendy Nichols of Double Springs, and Adam and Brenda Johnson of Cookeville. The family will receive friends Wednesday, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper, Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Life gathering for Mrs. Linda Sue McCloud, age 61 of Monterey, will be conducted Friday, October 29, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home. Mrs. McCloud passed away Sunday, October 24, 2021, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was a homemaker, and will be best remembered for her outgoing personality. Survivors include her husband, Donnie McCloud; a daughter and son-in-law, Tabatha and Luke Phillips; two sons and daughters-in-law, Trinity and Cindy Phillips, and Billy And Samantha Phillips; one stepdaughter, Emy McCloud. The family will receive friends at Goff Funeral Home on Friday, October 29, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
A visitation for Ms. Pamela Boles, age 59 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, October 30, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., at Presley Funeral Home. Ms. Boles passed away Friday, October 8, 2021, at her home. She was born Tuesday, February 20, 1962, in Barberton, OH, the daughter of the late John Wilson and the late Cynthia Boles Wilson. Pam was a fun loving person. She was a good mom, sister, and friend to who ever needed one. Pam enjoyed the outdoors, camping and fishing were her favorites. Survivors include two sons, Bobby Boles of Cookeville, and Michael Boles of Pensacola, FL.
A memorial service for Mr. Michael Dean Lee, age 69 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, October 30, at 1:00 p.m., at the Dyer Chapel of Hooper, Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Mr. Lee passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at NHC of Cookeville. He was born August 29, 1952 in Cookeville to the late Billy and Ruth Short Lee. Michael was a 1970 graduate of Cookeville High School, and a 1975 graduate of Tennessee Tech University with a degree in History. He had served as a substitute teacher in the Putnam County School system, worked at Pate’s Motorcyle Shop in Chattanooga and Mid-State Kawasaki of Cookeville. He was owner-operator of a lawn care/small engine repair shop. Michael loved to read, especially about history and was a stand-up comedian. He enjoyed NASCAR races and riding motorcycles. He attended West View Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Heather Hogan Lee of Cookeville; daughter, Danielle (Francis) Tommaso of Cookeville; son Kyle (Allie) Lee of Knoxville. The family will receive friends Saturday, from 11 a.m. until service time, at the funeral home.
Funeral services for Mrs. Joyce M. Ford Shoemaker, age 83 of Anderson, IN, and formerly of Allons, will be conducted Saturday, October 30, at 2:00 p.m., from the Fellowship Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Fellowship Cemetery. Mrs. Shoemaker passed away Saturday, October 23, 2021, in Anderson, IN. She was born in Allons, to the late Estes and Ada Ford. Survivors include her children, David Shoemaker and wife, Dottie, Kathy Collins, Bob Shoemaker, and Lisa Thomas. In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Caston Shoemaker; and a daughter, Gina Paschal. The family will welcome friends Saturday, from 12:00 p.m. until time of services at 2 p.m., at Fellowship Baptist Church. Celebration of Life services for Ms. Doris Miars, age 70 of Monterey, will be conducted Wednesday, November 3, at 3:00 p.m., from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home. Inurnment will follow in the Welch Memorial Cemetery. Ms. Miars passed away Friday, September 24, in Gilbert, AZ. She was born in Dunkirk, IN, to the late Earl and Callie Ray (McCowan) Harris. She graduated from Dunkirk High School and attended First Freewill Baptist Church. She was quite proud of working from age 17 until her retirement at age 67 without a lapse in any years. She had several jobs over the course of her work career, starting at Boston’s Store in Dunkirk, Indiana at age 17. She loved working for several years at Stantec, a global engineering and consulting firm in Phoenix, AZ, as an HR manager. Her most recent job was for Stoops Buick and GMC dealership in Muncie, IN, and was always amazed when people recognized her from appearing in some of their commercials. She made several lifelong friends throughout her work history. Survivors include one sister, Estell (Collins) Sisco, of Crawford. The family will receive friends at Goff Funeral Home, Wednesday, November 3, from 1:00 p.m. until time of services at 3:00 p.m.
