Mr. Carson Herren, age 56 of Smithville and formerly of Baxter, passed away Sunday, October 17, 2021, at Ascension Saint Thomas DeKalb Hospital in Smithville. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Mr. Billy Deloy Smith, age 82 of Cookeville, passed away Saturday, October 16, 2021, at Vanderbilt-Wilson County Hospital in Lebanon. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Funeral services for Mrs. Clara Jean Ragland McDonald, age 90 of Cookeville, will be held Tuesday, October 19, at 11:00 a.m., at the Cookeville chapel of Hooper, Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Cemetery. Mrs. McDonald passed away Saturday, October 16, on the morning of her ninetieth birthday. She was born October 16, 1931, to the late Carmel Ridley and Clara Flatt Ragland. Clara worked at Adams USA for over 50 years. She was a member of Willow Avenue Church of Christ. She was best known for her selflessness, resolve, and enormous capacity to love. Clara’s personal strength stemmed from her persistent hope, and she shared her hope with those around her through encouraging words. Survivors include a daughter, Marcia. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Troy McDonald. Visitation will be held Monday, October 18, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and again Tuesday, from 10:00 a.m. until service time, at the Cookeville chapel of Hooper, Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Funeral services for Mr. Michael James Brandenburg, age 76 of Sparta, will be Tuesday, October 19, at 1:00 p.m., at Oak Lawn Funeral Home. Interment will be in Jericho Cemetery, Quebeck. Mr. Brandenburg passed away Thursday, October 14, 2021, at Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro. Mike was born Saturday, March 31, 1945, in Novi, MI, the son of the late Donald Brandenburg and the late Elaine Kohnert Brandenburg. Survivors include his wife, Zelma Neal Brandenburg; two sons, Jonathan and Joseph Brandenburg. The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 19, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at Oak Lawn Funeral Home in Sparta.

Funeral services for Mr. Christopher Leon Heady, age 62 of Sparta, will be conducted Tuesday, October 19, at 1 p.m., from the chapel of Hunter Funeral Home. Burial with full military honors by the Veteran’s Honor Guard will follow in Roberts Family Cemetery. Mr. Heady passed away Friday, October 15, 2021, at his residence. Chris was born December 23, 1958, in Cookeville. He retired from the Tennessee Army National Guard after 20 years of service, and had a career with Vinson Home Improvement that spanned over 40 years. He enjoyed working in his shop and helping his son, Nathan, work on cars. When he was not working or in the shop, he could be found fishing with Bryan Gilbert. Survivors include two sons, Nathan (Kelli) Heady of Sparta, and Matthew Heady of Akron, OH; one daughter, Christy Heady Bradshaw of Baxter. He was preceded in death by his mother Doris Heady Roberts. The family will receive friends Tuesday, from 11 a.m. until service time, at Hunter Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Mr. Harold Loyd Maynard, age 82 of Baxter, will be Tuesday, October 19, at 1 p.m., at the Baxter Chapel of Hooper, Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in New Home Baptist Church Cemetery in the Boma Community. Mr. Maynard passed Saturday, October 16, 2021, at Signature-Putnam in Algood. He was born June 13, 1939, in the Buffalo Valley Community to the late Floyd and Edith Brown Maynard. He attended Buffalo Valley School and graduated in 1956 from Baxter Seminary. His work history included driving a truck at Putnam County Highway Department, an oiler with McDowell & McDowell Construction Co., and a foreman with J.F. Helmond Brothers in Chicago, IL. He retired in 2002 as a Greyhound bus driver with over 31 years of service. Harold Loyd enjoyed playing rook, traveling and listening to country music. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Harold Ralph and Sheri Maynard of Baxter, James Darren and Chrissy Maynard of Cookeville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lucretia Sutton Maynard, and a son, Larry Ray Maynard. The family will receive friends Monday, from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m., and Tuesday from 10 a.m. until service time at the the Baxter Chapel of Hooper, Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Funeral services for Mr. Alex Sanford Horn, Jr., age 59 of Cookeville, will be Tuesday, October 19, at 2:00 p.m., at Presley Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Sand Springs Cemetery in Monterey. Mr. Horn passed away Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born Tuesday, January 2, 1962, in Cookeville, the son of the late Alex Horn and the late Barbara Gentry Horn Smith. Alex enjoyed fishing, golfing and riding his Harley Davidson and Honda motorcycles. He loved being with his family and friends. Alex loved being with cousin, Eric Cleghorn, helping each other and hanging out. For a majority of his life, Alex worked as an auto mechanic working for several dealerships. Survivors include two daughters, Jessica (Greg) Parker of Clarksville, and Misty (Wesley) Still of Gainesboro; one son, Matthew Horn of Washington State. The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 19, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m.

Funeral services for Mr. Roger Keith Maynard, age 53 of Gainesboro, will be held Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at 2:30 p.m., in the chapel of Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Burial will follow in West Cemetery in Putnam County. Mr. Maynard passed away Sunday, October 17, 2021, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Keith was the son of the late Richard D. Maynard, and Frances Jeanette Estep Maynard. He was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife of 17 years, Darla Maynard of Gainesboro, sons, Eli Maynard of Gainesboro, Dustin Maynard and Josh Maynard, both of NC. Visitation will be held Monday, October 18, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., and again on Tuesday, from 10 a.m. till 2:30 p.m., at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home.

A celebration of life gathering for Mr. Raven Gunter, age 77 of Wilder, will be held Thursday, October 21, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Goff Funeral Home. Mr. Gunter passed away Saturday, October 16, 2021, at Cumberland Medical Center in Crossville. He was born Wednesday, April 5, 1944, in Wilder, to the late Arthur Earl and Ethel Robbins Gunter. Mr. Gunter was a tunnel digger for almost 40 years, working all over The United States. He was a United States Army Veteran. Survivors include a son, Derek Gunter of Monterey.

Memorial services for Ms. Glenda Brown, age 57 of Baxter, will be Saturday, October 23, at 11 a.m., at the Baxter Chapel of Hooper, Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment will be in New Home Baptist Church Cemetery in the Boma Community at a later date. Ms. Brown passed away Thursday evening, October 14, 2021, at her home. She was born June 27, 1964, in Birmingham, AL, to Marie Phelps Brown of Baxter, and the late Larry Hugh Brown. She was a 1982 graduate of Upperman High School in Baxter, and attended Life Church of Cookeville. She had served as office manager/insurance agent with Gary Maxwell Insurance of Cookeville for over 23 years. She enjoyed traveling. In addition to her mother, survivors include a daughter, Ashlyn Medley of Bowling Green, KY; one son, Jackson Medley of Granby, CO. The family will receive friends Saturday, from 9 a.m. until service time. Graveside services for Mrs. Virginia “Jenny” Sutton, age 83 of Monte Vista, CO, and formerly of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, October 23, at 11 a.m. at Crest Lawn Cemetery. Mrs. Sutton passed away Wednesday, October 13, in Colorado.

A celebration of life for Mr. Curtis Wade Blair, age 59 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, October 23, at 12:00 p.m., at 901 Rose Garden Lane, Cookeville. Mr. Blair passed away, Thursday, October 14, 2021, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He is survived by two daughters, Lindsy Young (Barry) and Heather Jones (Chris). He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Blair, and mother, Ellen Aspengren. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.

A celebration of life for Mr. Robert D. Willis, age 86 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, October 23, at 4:00 p.m., at The First Christian Church. Mr. Willis passed away Thursday, October 14, 2021. He was born Wednesday, August 21, 1935, in Alton, MO, the son of the late Harry Willis and the late Jeanette Orr Smith. Bob was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved to see the world and enjoyed every minute of life. Bob was proud to serve the United States as Air Force Master SGT. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Sue Lynn Willis; one daughter, Charolette (Kevin) Waite. Visitation will be held Saturday, from 2:00 until time of service.

Celebration of Life services for Mr. Henry Earl (Red) Burgin, age 75 of Sparta, will be held Saturday, October 23, at 6:00 p.m., at Oak Lawn Funeral Home with full military honors. Mr. Burgin passed away Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at his home. He was born October 11, 1946, in Waterzielt, MI. Red worked and retired from Emerson, formerly Mallory Timers, after 45 years. During those years, he enjoyed traveling with Everett Palmer, Bob O’Neil, and Dave Hitchcock, who became lifelong friends. He was an engineer who could design or build anything and received three U.S. patents for his designs. Mallory was also where he met the love of his life, Debbie Goff. In his younger years, he enjoyed bass fishing and golf. He and Debbie traveled the world together and attended several professional golf tournaments where he met Jim Furyk and his idol, Tiger Woods. Red was gentle, kind, loving, and loved playing jokes on his friends. He always said what was on his mind, and if he liked you, he would be the best friend you could have. Red had the most beautiful blue eyes and red hair. Survivors include his wife, Debbie Goff of Sparta; children, Scott Burgin (Brandon) of Fishers, IN, and Lisa Andrews (Rick) of Ft. Collins, CO. The family will welcome friends on Saturday, from 4:00 p.m. until time of the service, at Oak Lawn Funeral Home.

A visitation for Ms. Pamela Boles, age 59 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, October 30, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., at Presley Funeral Home. Ms. Boles passed away Friday, October 8, 2021, at her home. She was born Tuesday, February 20, 1962, in Barberton, OH, the daughter of the late John Wilson and the late Cynthia Boles Wilson. Pam was a fun loving person. She was a good mom, sister, and friend to who ever needed one. Pam enjoyed the outdoors, camping and fishing were her favorites. Survivors include two sons, Bobby Boles of Cookeville, and Michael Boles of Pensacola, FL.
