Mrs. Glenda Brown, age 57 of Baxter, passed away Thursday, October 14, 2021, at her home. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Mrs. Jaye B. Fields, age 64 of Granville, passed away Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Her wishes of cremation are being honored, and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Mrs. Fields was born November 11, 1956, in Binghamton, NY, to the late George Wasley, Sr. and Avalon Wasley. She was a dental hygienist and a member of Granville United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband, Barry W. Fields of Granville; daughters, Meagan Morris-Wasley and Jaci Tarlowe; son, Arthur Cappelen.

Mr. Ethan Wayne Bruce, age 31 of Sparta, passed away Monday, October 11, 2021, at Saint Thomas West Hospital in Nashville. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Mr. Bruce was born May 25, 1990, in Jacksonville, FL, the son of Eric and Callie Yergy Bruce. He proudly served in the United States Air Force. In addition to his parents, he is survived by a son, Oliver Bruce of Smithville.

Mrs. Louise Hamilton, age 72 of Cookeville, passed away Saturday, October 9, 2021, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. The family has chosen cremation, with no services at this time. Mrs. Hamilton was born March 31, 1949, in Quebec, Canada, to the late Emilien Demers and Juliette Demers. She was married to the late Stanley Hamilton. She was retired from production work at Apcom. Survivors include a daughter, Emilie Yates of Gainesboro.

Funeral services for Mr. Melvin June Martin, age 93 of Cookeville, will be Saturday, October 16, at 11 a.m., at the Dyer Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Allison Cemetery. Mr. Martin passed away Friday October 8, 2021, at NHC of Cookeville. The family will receive friends Friday until 7 p.m., and again Saturday, from 10 a.m. until service time.

Funeral services for Mr. Charles Poston, age 67 of Sparta, will be held Saturday, October 16, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., in the chapel of Hunter Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Old Bon Air Cemetery. Mr. Poston passed away Monday, October 11, 2021, at his residence. He was born August 26, 1953, in Quebeck, to the late Carlos Lee Poston, Sr and Vella Mai Redmon Poston. Charles was retired from Thomas Industries and after retiring, he was the custodian for the Doyle Elementary School. Survivors include his wife, Darlene Emerton Poston; son, Charles Richard Poston, II and wife, Sandra. The family will receive friends until 8 p.m. on Friday.

A visitation for the family and friends of Mr. Gordon Gene Stephens, age 74 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, October 16, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., at Crest Lawn Funeral Home in Cookeville. There will be an Honor Guard presentation at 1 p.m. Mr. Stephens passed away Sunday, September 26, 2021, surrounded by his family. Gordon proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He proudly rode with and was a member of the Mechanized Calvary, First Battalion, Company “A”. He loved to ride his Harley Davidson motorcycle with his wife, Brenda, and friends. He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda Stephens; and daughter, April Wiseman. Following the visitation, Gordon will be taking his last ride to Big Puckett’s Campground where they will be celebrating his life. A pot luck meal will be served. Please bring a dish to share.

Funeral services for Mrs. Georgia E. Dickerson, age 94 of Celina, will be held on Saturday, October 16, at 12 p.m., from the chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Celina. Burial will follow in the Spear Cemetery in Clay County. Mrs. Dickerson passed away Thursday, October 14, 2021, at her residence. She was born in Celina on Saturday, September 17, 1927, to the late Bedford and Beulah (Dunning) Spear. She was a member of the New Hope Church of Christ. Georgia loved her family and friends and her church family very much, she showed kindness to everyone and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Survivors include four sisters, Kat Craighead of Moss, Margarett Heston of Elwood, IN, Sherlin Endicott of Atlanta, IN, Linda Brewer and her husband, John, of Lafayette, IN. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bertis “Slim” Dickerson. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, October 15, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m.

Funeral services for Mr. Lura Raymond Ball, age 79 of Cookeville, will be Saturday, October 16, at 1 p.m., at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper, Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Crest Lawn Cemetery. Mr. Ball passed away Wednesday October 13, 2021 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. The family will receive friends Saturday beginning at 11 a.m. with a Masonic service at 12:45 p.m.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ellen Latane Thomas, age 68 of Baxter, will be Saturday, October 16, at 2:00 p.m., at Presley Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Dobbs Cemetery. Mrs. Thomas passed away Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She was the daughter of the late Alphus and Eula Mae Gambrell Dunn. Latane was the wife of Lynn Thomas for over 20 years. Latane was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She loved going to the beach, attending, and watching NASCAR and the UT Vols. She also enjoyed singing karaoke. Latane lived for her grandchildren and despite her disability, she had a zest for life. In addition to her husband, survivors include two daughters, Misty (Jason) Carr of Baxter, and Stefanie Janko of Cookeville. Visitation will be held Friday until 8:00 p.m., and again on Saturday, October 16, from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m.

Celebration of Life services for Mr. Henry Earl Burgin (Red), age 75 of Sparta, will be held Saturday, October 23, at 6:00 p.m., at Oak Lawn Funeral Home with full military honors. Mr. Burgin passed away Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at his home. He was born October 11, 1946, in Waterzielt, MI. Red worked and retired from Emerson, formerly Mallory Timers, after 45 years. During those years, he enjoyed traveling with Everett Palmer, Bob O’Neil, and Dave Hitchcock, who became lifelong friends. He was an engineer who could design or build anything and received three U.S. patents for his designs. Mallory was also where he met the love of his life, Debbie Goff. In his younger years, he enjoyed bass fishing and golf. He and Debbie traveled the world together and attended several professional golf tournaments where he met Jim Furyk and his idol, Tiger Woods. Red was gentle, kind, loving, and loved playing jokes on his friends. He always said what was on his mind, and if he liked you, he would be the best friend you could have. Red had the most beautiful blue eyes and red hair. Survivors include his wife, Debbie Goff of Sparta; children, Scott Burgin (Brandon) of Fishers, IN, and Lisa Andrews (Rick) of Ft. Collins, CO. The family will welcome friends on Saturday from 4:00 PM until time of the service at Oak Lawn Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Mr. Dale Marshall Garrett, age 81 of Baxter, will be Sunday, October 17, at 2:00 p.m., at Sycamore Church of Christ in Cookeville. Mr. Garrett passed away Wednesday, October 13, 2021. He was born in Nashville on April 19, 1940, and lived in the Nashville and Madison areas until 2003 when he retired and moved to Baxter. He attended 12th Avenue Church of Christ in Nashville, then Madison Church of Christ where he served as a deacon for many years. He also served as a committee member and chairman of the Missionary Ministry, working closely with the minister in Scotland and other areas. He was a member of Sycamore Church of Christ in Cookeville, serving as an elder with special work with the Widows Ministry, Benevolence Ministry, World Bible School, and (SOC) Servants of Christ College Ministry. Dale was known for his strong prayer life. He prayed by name for approximately 200 people every day. He was a frugal shopper; items must be on sale or bought with a coupon. He prided himself as a coupon king. A successful financial planner, he tried to help others with their finances. He was a hard worker in all his career choices, working for Newspaper Printing Corporation, Cooper and Martin Grocery, Blair Follin Allen and Walker insurance Co., Partner with Garrett and Street Insurance Associates, Nashville Memorial Hospital and American Heritage Life Insurance. Dale loved to travel and had visited many countries and all 50 states. He was an outstanding basketball, softball, racquetball, bridge, and card player, and also enjoyed doing puzzles. He was a fan of UT and Peyton Manning. He graduated from Hume-Fogg Technical School in 1958. Dale was president of his class and active with the alumni. He was honored by the title of Papa Dale, but most of all he was known as a kind, loving Christian. Survivors include his wife of 18 years, June Herron-Garrett; one daughter, Jacqueline Garrett-Moreland of Nashville; two sons, Dale Marshall Garrett Jr (Shannon) of Chapmansboro, and Donald Glenn Garrett (Kristine) of Ashland City. Visitation will be held Saturday, October 16, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., and Sunday, October 17, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service, at Sycamore Church of Christ.

Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Ann Markum, age 91 of Franklin and formerly of Cookeville, will be Monday, October 18, at 11 a.m., at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper, Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Dodson Branch Cemetery. Mrs. Markum passed away Saturday, October 9, 2021, at Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro. The family will receive friends Sunday, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., and again Monday, from 10 a.m. until service time.

Graveside services for Mr. Doyle “JJ” England, age 68, of Crossville, and formerly of Fentress County, will be held Monday, October 18, at 2:00 p.m. at Muddy Pond Cemetery. Mr. England passed away Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at Livingston Regional Medical Center. He was born Tuesday, August 18, 1953, in Clarkrange, the son of the Late Rev. Clayton Olmus and Flossie Mae Miller England. Mr. He was a truck driver, working both long and short haul loads. He attended Solid Rock Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of almost 47 years, Eva Swallows England of Crossville; one daughter, Angelia (Curt) of Crossville; one son, Christopher of Indiana. Funeral services for Mrs. Lucy Louise Henry, age 88 of Sparta, will be held Monday, October 18, at 2:00 p.m., at Oak Lawn Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Henry passed away Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at Life Care Center of Sparta. She was born March 11, 1933, in Cookeville. She was the daughter of the late Johnny Estil and Gladys Fitzpatrick Wright. She was a member of Findlay Church of Christ. She worked for the White County School System for many years. She loved her family very much. Survivors include a son, Kevin Lee Henry (Renee) of Sparta; a daughter, Joan Elaine Gilliam (Denny) of Sparta. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Troy Henry. The family will welcome friends on Monday, from 11:00 a.m. until time of the service, at Oak Lawn Funeral Home.

Ms. Selby passed away Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro. She was born July 28, 1947, in Sparta, the daughter of the late Lyles and Beulah Stamps Frasier. Survivors include a son, Nathan Selby. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Jackie Keen. Funeral services for Mr. Alex Sanford Horn, Jr., age 59 of Cookeville, will be Tuesday, October 19, at 2:00 p.m., at Presley Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Sand Springs Cemetery in Monterey. Mr. Horn passed away Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born Tuesday, January 2, 1962, in Cookeville, the son of the late Alex Horn and the late Barbara Gentry Horn Smith. Alex enjoyed fishing, golfing and riding his Harley Davidson and Honda motorcycles. He loved being with his family and friends. Alex loved being with cousin, Eric Cleghorn, helping each other and hanging out. For a majority of his life, Alex worked as an auto mechanic working for several dealerships. Survivors include two daughters, Jessica (Greg) Parker of Clarksville, and Misty (Wesley) Still of Gainesboro; one son, Matthew Horn of Washington State. The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 19, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m.

A visitation for Ms. Pamela Boles, age 59 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, October 30, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., at Presley Funeral Home. Ms. Boles passed away Friday, October 8, 2021, at her home. She was born Tuesday, February 20, 1962, in Barberton, OH, the daughter of the late John Wilson and the late Cynthia Boles Wilson. Pam was a fun loving person. She was a good mom, sister, and friend to who ever needed one. Pam enjoyed the outdoors, camping and fishing were her favorites. Survivors include two sons, Bobby Boles of Cookeville, and Michael Boles of Pensacola, FL.
